Selin Bernâ Çakıcı is a multicultural ballet artist and the founder of Elysium Ballet Academy.
Born in Amsterdam with Caribbean and Turkish roots, Selin trained within internationally recognised ballet
institutions including the Dutch National Ballet Academy and the Mimar Sinan Conservatory Middle School.
Alongside her artistic training, Selin also pursued studies in Media and Entertainment Management, further
shaping her multidisciplinary and contemporary approach to arts education.
Currently, she combines flow and fire arts with classical ballet, performing a unique contemporary artistic style that enriches both her creative
vision and teaching approach. Through her classical training journey, she experienced both the beauty and the pressures of the traditional ballet world.
Today, she is redefining it.
Why Elysium Ballet Academy Exists
“I wanted to create a safe and supportive space for everybody.
A space where perfection does not silence expression.
Where diversity is not the exception.
Where dancers are developed as confident individuals — not just performers.”
Selin combines established classical training methods such as the Royal Academy of
Dance (RAD) and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) with a modern and inclusive teaching
philosophy.
Her approach focuses on:
• Strong posture and body control
• Confidence and discipline
• Personal growth through dance
Elysium Ballet Academy was created to nurture the next generation of dancers in a supportive and high-quality environment.
Originally from the Caribbean, Avilène Arrindell brings warmth, energy, and cultural richness to the academy through her experience in Latin-American dance styles.
Her background includes Salsa, Bachata, Cha-Cha-Cha, Merengue, and Mambo — combining musicality, rhythm, and expressive movement in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
Through her teaching, Avilène encourages students to develop confidence, coordination, and a genuine enjoyment of dance.
